Hip pain that goes into the leg.

Q:
Age: 15   Sex: F   Concern: Sports injuries

Recently I have been experiencing pain in my hip. I am a volleyball player. The pain originates when I spike the ball. To be brief when you spike the ball you must rotate your hip in the direction you want the ball to go. I have a good vertical jump and when landing from the spike my leg hurts. I have stiffness in the area after a match including pain. I have tried stretching along with ice therapy to help the pain. Also I have tried over the counter muscle pain relievers such as Alleve. What could be my problem and who should I see. Thank-you for your time.

A:
See a sports medicine doctor to look at your biomechanics. A physiatrist with training in sports medicine and spine care would be good.
