Sacrum pain

Q:
Age: 41   Sex: M   Concern: extreme low back pain

I have had low back pain probably for 14 yrs. now, i have had x-rays, and MRI's done, only to be told that it was degenerative disc disease. My back had been doing ok for the past 10 yrs. or so, with occasional bouts of days sometimes a week of pain; but lately over the past year it as exceedingly gotten worse. I've had another x-ray, and MRI, with the results showing the same as before, but a moderate case now instead of mild. The pain is extreme most of the time (scale of 0-10... 10 being worst ever. is an 7-9) My scrotum will go completly numb if sitting on a stool, or chair with no back support, weak urine stream, and PAIN!!! I am in physical therapy at the present time, and that seems to make it worse, what should I do??? Please, i have been taking Loratab 7.5's for 3 or 4 months now, and don't want to keep taking them for the rest of my life...Please advise... Thank you in advance.

I would get a second opinion from a spine specialist.
