chest wall tenderness

Q:
Age: 80   Sex: M   Concern: Spinal cord injury

it is now 4 months since my left side became numb starting at level of T4. Initially, I had 5 weeks od severe pain in T4 area. Now, sensation is slowly returning to upper ribcage area and I now feel chest wall tenderness on same level as earlier back pain. It is the same area that I originally got severe chest pain when it was first thought I had had a heart attack. All I know at the moment is that there would appear to have been an event at T4. Is the chest tenderness a clue as to what actually happened. Thank you for any help you may be able to give me with this mystery.

A:
One possibility is a thoracic disc herniation. Your doctor may want to get a thoracic MRI
