Should I have a second surgery for a cervical herniated disc?

Q:
Age: 35   Sex: F   Concern: cervical herniated disc

Hello there. I had a cervical spine fusion about five years ago. I was recently in an accident and now have another cervical herniated disc. I have tried the non surgery techniques, such as rest and inflamatory drugs. I have also tried the cordisone shot, which was horrible. Nothing seems to help. What is your opinion on a second surgery for this problem? Should I have the other surgery? I have numbness in my left arm and hand and have pain and stiffness almost all the time. Thank you.

A:
It is difficult to advise you unless I see you in person. I would get at least 2 second opinions in a different city before surgery. Most often, surgeons in the same city have the same treatment approach.
