chronic new pain after 2 level neck fusion


Q:
Age: 56   Sex: F   Concern: 1 year post op neck fusion chronic new pain  

C5-C6, c6-c7 anterior cervical discectomy and fusion with PEEK strut reconstruction c5-c-6 with placement of bone morphogenetic protein sponges. C5-c6 atlantis Titanium plate. Interprectation of intraoperative fluoroscopy. Peek implant, bone alograft ,i have prgressivly worse pain and swelling of the bone area in back of neck . it feels like presure in that area when i stand and more presure when i sit. this pain is getting to be more then i can bear. mri says theres no compression on my spinal cord now so the surgeron says learn to live with it. why is it getting worse by the day? and are there any answers for me?

That is one of the downside of fusion: it is not curative and sometimes can cause more pain.
