symptoms of c5 c6 herniation of disc

Q:
Age: 33   Sex: M   Concern: Spinal cord injury

I was in a car accident on November 10. A MRI was performed and i was referred to a neurosurgeon. I went and seen him and was ordered to wear a hard cast for approximately 6 weeks, and then i will be reevaluated, with likely physical therapy being assigned. I was diagnosed with a c5 c6 herniation without myleopathy. My symptoms are weakness in my hands, feeling of fatigue in my forearms, and numbness in my thumb and first finger (usually left hand, but sometimes both hands). I also have headaches and neck pain. Are these the usual symptoms of a c5/c6 herniation? What other symptoms does the herniation sometimes show? I am going back to see my NS in 2 weeks and I just would like to have an idea of what is going on. Thank you for your time.

A:
The symptoms are fairly typical of a C5/6 disc.
