Help! I left town before I could get my MRI read!
I went to my regular doctor for about 4 months just taking Lyrica for nerve pain when she ordered an MRI. As soon as it was ready, they called us to leave and got to Detroit. I got the MRI because of my hands, especially my pinkies on each hand. Now I have L shoulder pain, L shoulder blade burning and pain, tired and cold feeling in my left arm, lower back pain when I walk around the grocery store for example (I weigh 120 so it's not overweight problems) and the muscles in my neck down each side feel all bunched up. Here's the MRI, can you translate it into English? (I was in a MVA in 2005 wherein the air bag knocked me out. I'm short so it hit me in the face. As you know, air bags come out at 200 mph, ouch! Soon thereafter my hands started tingling and going to sleep and then started hurting. The rest of the symptoms followed. I won't be able to go back to Houston (home) until after Christmas. Who should I see based on the MRI? Thank in advance. Silk.
C5-C6 The patient has a central disc protrusion with annular tear. There is also severe foraminal narrowing on the right and moderate foraminal narrowing on the left. This is totally effacing the thecal sac and appears to be encroaching on both lateral recesses. Also, there is spinal cord edema at this level consistent with myelomalacia It is unclear whether the myelomalacia is related to acute cord edema from trauma or chronic disc herniation and compression.
IMPRESSION: Substantial central disc herniation noted at C5-C6. This totally effaces the thecal sac and is associated with myelomalacia at this level. It is uncertain whether the myelomalacia is related to acute cord edema from trauma or chronic disc herniation and compression. The patient also has substantial bilateral foraminal narrowing at this level.
