could a person who's suffering from paralysis

Age: 20   Sex: F   Concern: paralysis  

dear doctor. my brother is 26. he had a car accident before 12 days. his enjury was bad..my brother had an internal bleeding 2 days after the accident and due to that, went to a coma..however, he woke up the next day.. we all thought that his condition will get better until yesterday when suddenely he couldn't move his lower legs anymore(knee to toes)..the doctors told us that his nerves are damaged and he's suffering from paralysis.. could my brother get better with time and treatment..could my brother walk again..?

I wish I can be more helpful. The answer varies from yes to no or any in between. It all depends on the nature of the injury.

If it is indeed a spinal cord injury, from your description, it sounds like your brother sustained a lower cord injury, possibly a L4 or L5. Unlike the cervical and thoracic cord injury, lumbar cord injury is often incomplete and the chance of recovery is much greater.
