Chronic lower back pain

Q:
Age: 56   Sex: M   Concern: Chronic pain

3 weeks ago developed pain in lower left back (over hip) area following 2 hour session playing racquetball. Also had a "pulled" sensation in vicinity of groin. Difficulty/painful going from sitting to lying, vice-versa; bending painful and feels "tight" in lower back. More painful early AM, gets better as day goes along, but still painful at lower back. Initial Dr diagnosis was muscular skeletal strain. Going to family Dr tomorrow for further evaluations. What movements, exercises will relieve pain-any guess how long it may last?
