- 73 patients with radicular pain with acute herniated disc or spinal stenosis, randomized, double blind
1) 5ml procaine/80mg Depo (lumbar epidural)
2) 5ml procaine/2ml saline (lumbar epidural)
- Assessment: verbal report of the percentage improvement in symptoms
- success >75% improvement
- failure <75% improvement
- Confusing: After 24 hours, non responders from both groups received second steroid injection.
- Riddley showed it takes up to 4 weeks.
